Are there a variety of types of laser liposuction?
Perhaps the larger question here is whether there is a difference between laser liposuction and traditional liposuction? That is a question that is often asked by clients and potential clients. Fortunately, the answer is simple.
Laser liposuction is different from surgical liposuction in that we don’t require any invasive procedures. The entire process is done topically. We take the paddles of the machine, and place them on the spots that require treatment. This allows the laser to penetrate beneath the epidermal layer of your skin. Without cuts, without needles, and without pain.
The laser penetrates the epidermis or the skin layer. Underneath that layer lies a variety of fatty tissues and cells. The laser targets those tissues and cells and breaks them apart into smaller elements. When this happens, those fatty elements get released from the body through the body’s normal processes.
So, no, there aren’t several types of laser liposuction. While there are various types of tools and machinery, they all do generally the same type of procedure. They all emulsify the fatty layer to help the body get rid of it. No matter what type of machinery is used with laser lipo, it’s going to be a noninvasive procedure.
So how is this different from regular liposuction?
Again, the noninvasive laser liposuction is performed on the outside of the skin. No cuts are required and no needles are used. This means that you don’t have a lot of recovery time, or downtime.
For someone who is considering the more traditional liposuction, they need to consider that they will be having a full surgery. This means anesthesia. This means a scalpel cuts an area for a probe to be placed inside to suction the fat out of your body. You might opt to have the fat sucked out and placed into another area. That’s an option some people consider, but with that, you do have to be concerned with how long the recovery is going to take.
Generally, people who have that type of surgery are going to be out of work for a week or two weeks depending on their reaction to the surgery. It definitely takes some time to get back to normal with the pain and bruising. However, with laser liposuction, there is no recovery or downtime. You can schedule an exercise workout following your appointment that same day. No problem.
